Biography

Sheung Yan Lo, known as MaYan by his peers, became Executive Creative Director of JWT North East Asia in November 2001. He joined JWT in 1996 as Executive Creative Director and has been instrumental in driving JWT Shanghai to become the top creative agency in the market.

MaYan started his career in advertising in 1988 at Ogilvy & Mather, Hong Kong, and went on to work at Lintas and Euro RSCG, before joining JWT.

His creative work has earned awards at the most prestigious award competitions including: Cannes Lions, Clio, D&AD, New York Festival, Asia Pacific AdFest, Media Asian Awards, Times Asia Pacific Awards, among others. JWT Shanghai is the only agency that has won the Grand Prix four times in the history of China Advertising Award.

He has also been invited to judge Clio, Cannes Lions, AdFest, LongXi Creative Awards, Times Chinese Advertising Awards, Times Asia Pacific Creative Awards, Media & Marketing Asia Pacific Advertising Awards and China National Advertising Awards.

In 2008, he was awarded by China Advertising Association as one of the 30 most outstanding industry leaders in China's advertising over the last 30 years. And he ranks number two in the 2009 Media Creative Rankings.

He is a regular speaker in seminars for public and universities in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.

MaYan is married with two children and writes Cantonese pop song lyrics in his spare time.
