The Young Creative Academy
Nurturing Tomorrow's Talent
Every year, Spikes Asia offers 15 students from the Asia Pacific region an exclusive learning opportunity at the Young Creative Academy. The Academy's three-day programme is tailored to the specific needs of creative students under the age of 23, and includes bespoke tutorials from top industry figures alongside access to relevant seminars from the main Festival programme. Please note that all places on the 2013 Creative Academy course have now been filled.
A Dedicated Programme
The Young Creative Academy students have the unique opportunity to enjoy:
- One-off sessions from world-class speakers, specially designed for the Academy students
- Seminars and workshops held during Spikes Asia
- Access to exhibitions of the most innovative and creative ideas from the region and beyond
Organised in association with Cheil Worldwide, the Academy takes place during the Spikes Asia Festival from 15-17 September and concludes with a graduation ceremony honouring the achievements of the students.
The Course Mentor
Having practised advertising as an art director at CreAds Advertising and Batey Ads (where he also interned in his school days), Noor Azhar went on to set-up a boutique agency Just Media heading its creative department. He has worked with brands at many levels, but he finds working with local and inspiring brands seeking to find that brand voice in the cluttered market most challenging and fulfilling. His job as a creative person has brought him to service accounts from New York to the Maldives.
Now a Senior Lecturer at the Singapore Polytechnic Design School teaching in the Diploma in Visual Communication and Media Design course, Azhar specialises in advertising and brand communication, and also heads the school’s Strategic Marketing team.
At the Singapore Polytechnic, he founded The Student Agency (TSA), an in-house design and advertising agency with about 20 design students running and managing live projects. TSA has featured at the London Design Festival in 2012 and also an industry mentorship with Droga5 in Sydney in March 2013.
Azhar has served as Academy Tutor at the Cheil Worldwide’s Spikes Academy at Spikes Asia since 2009. He has also featured at the Cannes Lion’s Young Lions Creative Academy supporting its Academy Dean, Bob Isherwood as Assistant Tutor since 2012.
The 2013 Creative Academy is now full.
The Academy will return in 2014 to offer more students aged 23 or under an exclusive learning opportunity at Spikes Asia. If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with Ginny Tan at email@example.com.
