Brief Explanation
It won’t happen in real life anytime soon, but it happened to two pairs of classic
Vans.
Vans simply wanted to let China know the stories behind its two icons of
American originality: the ERA and the checker Slip
On.
We pitched the shoes against each other in a race for “Originality” a la the U.S. presidential election. The checker
Slip On represented creativity, the
ERA for bravery. Each candidate
campaigned for their believes through historical Vans content, the voters cast their votes in a ballot box. During the election period, campaign
posters and ads were plastered all over
Vans stores and pop culture portals
online.
The ERA won.
