What the Academy will explore in 2019

This course will work to get candidates to think more holistically about campaign planning beyond the traditional silos of ‘media’, ‘creative’ and ‘strategy’. We need to wear multiple hats in today’s boardroom. It’s no longer enough to propose a solid media plan. Client’s expect us to come to them with approaches that connects the entire client ecosystem across paid, owned and earned. And, as a result, the ‘big idea’ now has to translate across multiple platforms, following consumer behaviour. Klara leads business and distribution for Dentsu X, Singapore. From covering the brilliant basics, to defining complex logic systems for Telco one to one messaging, to instructing the right creative to infiltrate the latest technology platforms: she is able to make the complicated simple. With a history working in both creative and media agencies to pioneer new forms of digital content, she considers herself a self-confessed ‘tech geek’.

Klara moved to Singapore 5 years ago to open WPP’s Mobile First Agency Joule APAC office. There she held the position of Head of Strategy responsible for driving Unilever’s global mobile strategy across their billion dollar brands, developing and cascading assets to over 42 markets. Overseeing the strategic operations in South East Asia, she knows the region well including the art of wearing Batik in business and ordering a beef rendang (only little spicy) in Bahasa. In 2017, she then moved to OMD Singapore the lead the Marina Bay Sands account, being promoted to Head of Content, driving the creative agenda for accounts like Nivea, Eucerin, Glitsy and tech consulting on Apple.

Training and sharing knowledge have always been a motivation for her passion in her every day. In 2017, she launched ‘Whip it!’ a women only leadership program that progresses the gender balance by cultivating leadership acumen and self-confidence. She then evolved her work in Omnicom Media Group to coach future leaders under the program ‘Empower’ in 2018.

She was awarded ‘Campaign Asia’s Women to Watch’ 2017 where she was described as a ‘digital evangelist’. This follows other personal awards, including being voted 14th in The Drum’s ’50 under 30’ (2014), and a Cannes Young Media Star (2013). In Singapore, she is a veteran judge for the Tangrams, having judged in both 2017and 2018. She has an incredible amount of heart that she brings in her passion for our industry. She can’t wait to invent with the Spikes Future Leaders within the media academy!
