|The course has been specially crafted to meet the needs of young creative students who have not yet been employed in the communications or advertising industry, but hope to embark on a creative career after graduation.|
WHAT IS IT?
Taking place during Spikes Asia, the Young Creative Academy is an exciting training course available to just 15 students from the Asia Pacific region.
The three-day programme is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the most inspiring and experienced figures in the industry through exclusive seminar sessions and tutorials, all specially tailored to academy students. Designed to help you reach your full potential, the Young Creative Academy is a unique combination of classroom-based learning and practical coaching. It concludes with a graduation ceremony celebrating participants’ achievements.
Participants will also benefit from bespoke workshops, plus access to seminars from the main Festival programme and exhibitions of the most innovative and creative ideas from Asia Pacific and beyond.

The Academy will close with a graduation ceremony celebrating participants’ achievements. Attendees can also expect:

- Are aged 23 years or under (born after 23 September 1992)
- Are a full-time student studying advertising, marketing, communications or another creative field
- Have never been employed in the advertising/communications business

In his ninth year at the Singapore Polytechnic, Azhar is currently holding dual roles as a design educator there. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at its Design School specialising in advertising creative and integrated brand communications, and also a Pedagogy Researcher, focusing on the Simulated Practice and Critique pedagogies at the Polytechnic.
Starting his career as an advertising art director, Azhar went on to set up a boutique agency heading its creative department. He has worked with brands at many levels, but he finds working with local and inspiring brands seeking to find their brand voice in a cluttered market most challenging and fulfilling.
To further his belief in experiential education, Azhar founded The Student Agency at the Polytechnic. He has led students’ features at the London Design Festival, an industry mentorship with Droga5 in Sydney and also pitching campaigns to Greenpeace in Hong Kong .
Azhar has served as Academy Tutor at the Cheil Worldwide’s Spikes Academy since 2009. He has also featured at the Cannes Lion’s Young Lions Creative Academy
