Biography
Hello, I'm Matty. I like creativity, innovation and design. I’m the co-founder of Refill Magazine & Refill Space, Board Member for a couple of interesting things and currently the Chief Creative Officer of the DDB Group for New Zealand which has very recently expanded to include Australia as well.
Over the past 5 years DDB NZ has won NZ Agency Of The Year at Spikes Asia 5 times, AXIS (our local show) 4 times, D&AD 3 times and Cannes and APAC Effies twice.
We are currently the Cannes Pacific Network Of The Year and the AWARD Network Of The Year.
We also have some of the happiest people, with 97% proud to work here, 88% say we have an inclusive environment and we have a 0% gender pay gap across all levels and disciplines.
For the last 25+ years I have worked in the creative fields, more recently broadening this to early stage technology and combining different ideation and design practices to help brands gain impact through creativity and innovation.
Previously, I co-founded Special Group in Australia, ran an innovation team for Google across APAC, joined a ten person start up in New York called Droga5, later opening the second office of Droga5 in Australia, I ran the TBWA Group in Australia and also cut my teeth at The Glue Society, writing, art directing and directing.
I’ve created award winning ads. I’ve directed award winning ads. I’ve developed world changing products. And I’ve designed things, like brands, shoes, toys, drum kits, restaurants and supermarkets.
